Transformation, Embracing the Journey! – Part I

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Romans 12:1-2 NKJV

Hubby and I like the science fiction action films called the Transformers. Optimus Prime and Bumblebee (the good guys) were robots disguised as cars and trucks. The thing is, they could switch back and forth.

However, a butterfly goes through a transformation known as a metamorphosis, described as a change from within. Once the larva goes into the cocoon and emerges as a butterfly, it stays a butterfly. There is no turning back! But, now, the butterfly can do something it could not do before. It flies! Its body is different, a new diet, and a new way of seeing the world.

We, too, can be transformed like the butterfly–changed into something beautiful. How do we become transformed?

  • Give God Our Body
  • Give God Our Mind
  • Give God Our Will

The Christian’s transformation is like that of the butterfly. Our goal is transformation is to become more like Jesus. Just as a caterpillar enters the cocoon of darkness, we were in darkness a spiritual death until we met Jesus. Colossians 1:13 tells us that we have been delivered from the power of darkness when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

Thought for this week:

Imagine the caterpillar feeding on the leaves, going into the dark cocoon, and coming out a beautiful butterfly. Imagine you were once in darkness feeding on negativity, lies, and fear, but now you have a new way of life since you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior. As Acts 17:28 says, “It is through him that we are able to live to do what we do, and to be who we are” (ERV).

Be who God called you to be!

If you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior and want to experience the transformation, please contact me. I would love to talk to you.

Stay tuned for Part II of Transformation, Embracing the Journey!
